Alvin Hegna Obituary

Alvin Junior Hegna, age 94, of Barron, WI went to see Jesus peacefully in the early morning of Thursday, January 29th, 2026 at Monroe Manor in Barron.  He was born on October 12th, 1931 to Alvin Casper & Mabel (Bryngelson) Hegna at Barron where he was raised and attended school.  He graduated from Barron High School in 1949.  On February 14th, 1951, he was married to Leona Dennis of Prairie Farm.  The couple lived in Barron for a few years before moving to Cameron & Alvin worked in the family business, Barron Plumbing & Heating.  To them four children were born; Carolyn, Debra Sue. Desiree & Michael.  After some years working for his father, Alvin became a Master Plumber in November of 1960 & soon joined the Local 434 Plumbers & Steamfitters Union.  He worked on many union jobs around the state until moving to Arizona.  He did operate an independent plumbing business there for a few years, AJ’s Plumbing.  On April 7th, 1971, the family was delivered a harsh blow when daughter, Debra Sue & her fiancé, Marlin Brower, were killed in a motorcycle accident.  Alvin & Leona later parted.  Alvin later married Alice Myskewitz on November 23rd, 1990 in Arizona.  He became a step-father to her children; Greg, Ron, Kathy, Vickie, Rick & Mark.  The couple lived in Bloomer & Hammond, WI before moving with son Mark, back to Arizona in 1987.  Alice preceded him in death in 2002.  Alvin stayed in Arizona where he lived in a couple of different cities throughout the years & was a member of the Elk’s Club and had a couple special friends later on, Dee & Pricilla. In April of 2025, Alvin returned to Wisconsin.  Over the years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing & traveling.  A few of his favorite trips were to Alaska, Hawaii & Mexico. 

                Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, first wife: Leona Peavey, second wife: Alice, daughter: Debra Sue, great grandson: Devon Switlick, sisters: Gladys (Harry) Mohn & Edna (George) Feidt, nephew: Gerald Mohn, nephew-in-law: Rick Miller, step-sons: Greg & Ron Myskewitz & step-grandsons: Robert Myskewitz & Daniel Cook.  He is survived by his children: Carolyn (Mike) Bartlett of Barron, Desiree (Carl) Avery of Newell, SD & Michael (Marie) Hegna of Marathon City, WI, grandchildren: Ryan (Bridget) Bartlett, Heather (Dan) Ripplinger, Trevor (Joy), Jeremy (Jamie) & Jason (Richelle) Bartlett, Stephanie (Jens) Knutzen, Kory (Rob) Albert, Starr (Chad) Kuhn, Grant Avery (Elida), Kayla (Marcus) Metz, Cassandra (Kyle) Switlick, Tyler, Kendra & Ambria Hegna (Dakota Malinowski), great grandchildren: Justin, Matthew, Megan, Claire & Aidan Bartlett, Sabian. Byron, Raeleigh & Lawson Ripplinger, James Bartlett, Spencer and Shawn Staves, Sailor, Paislee, Ashton, Mattea, Wyatt, Nickolas & Annalee Bartlett, Elsie, Nora, twins Atlee &  Merrick & Leisel Knutzen, Savannah (Greg) Conitz, Sylagwyn (Preston) Williams, Ellis, Emmerick, Eliza & Esme Kuhn, Holden Garski, Carson, Devon & Mya Switlick & Cooper Malinowski, great great grandchildren: Adalida Conitz & twins Gwynevere & Graham Williams, nephews: Fred (Judy) Mohn & Tom (Lynn) Feidt, niece: Pattye Miller, step-children: Kathy Cook, Vickie (Dave) Jacobson, Rick (Kim) & Mark (Becky) Myskewitz, step-grandchildren: Michelle Myskewitz, Jennifer (Tony) Balfany, Lance Cook, Emily, Andrew, Raye & Olivia Myskewitz, step great grandson: Evan Myskewitz, as well as many other relatives & friends.

                Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 14th at First Baptist Church in Barron with Pastor Matt Sheppard officiating.  Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the church with a luncheon following the service.  Interment will take place at 11:00 a.m. on June 7th at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Cameron.  Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Cameron & Dallas.
